What's the difference between a sawn-off shotgun and a scattergun? ?
Q. Is there a difference? Or is one just a nickname of the other?
Asked by keykeygurl - Sat Aug 30 02:59:28 2008 - Other - Sports - 3 Answers - Comments
A. A scattergun is just another name for a shotgun. The difference between a sawed off shotgun and regular shotgun is that a sawed off shotgun is shorter and therefore easier to maneuver and conceal. Also, since its shorter, a sawed off shotgun is more effective at short range (although shotguns are pretty good at close range to begin with).

Why is it that when you saw a bolt down, only the end that has been sawn rusts?
Q. Is there anyway I can prevent this? There have been various bolts that I have sawn down to fit on my bicycles, but I've noticed rust appearing very quickly when it didn't prior to being cut.
Asked by Liam - Mon Oct 6 15:05:05 2008 - Do It Yourself (DIY) - 7 Answers - Comments
A. The bolt is either hot-dip galvanized or electroplate galvanized. The hot dip bolt is dipped into a vat of molten zinc which coats the surface of the bolt. Electroplated are dipped in a solution which is charged and causes zinc atoms to plate the bolt. Both methods protect the bolt from the outside, but do nothing for the steel core of the bolt. This normally is not an issue, unless you expose the core by cutting it as you have discovered. One way to keep the rust in check is to paint the end of the bolt after you cut it. Hope this helps.

If magic were real, would you be sawn in half and/or decapitated?
Q. If there was no pain or blood and you would be back to normal afterwards, would you be sawn in half or decapitated for real? Would you swap your body or legs with someone else? What else would you be willing to try? And would you rather be the sawer or the sawee?

Sawn of shotgun. what is the point and the benefits of this?
Q. Yeah sawing off the end of a shot gun. Why?
Asked by ~Pr*nce~ - Sun Aug 16 22:23:48 2009 - Hunting - 10 Answers - Comments
A. The really short ones you always see in Mafia movies are easier to conceal but are still powerful. If by sawed-off you mean you cut it from say 26 inches to 20, it is just so it will be quicker to swing and wouldn't get caught in thick brush.

Would a handgun that fires a shotshell be considered a sawn-off?
Q. i'm not considering a .410, and I am aware of the Taurus Judge and Bond arms derringer. Is it also a sawnoff if it just fires a shell through a smooth bore barrel?
Asked by Merlin - Wed Sep 29 01:20:43 2010 - Law Enforcement & Police - 1 Answers - Comments
A. Sawn off is sawn off, so if it isn't sawn off, it isn't a sawn off. However, a pistol cannot be a shotgun, as it is a pistol. A shotgun, cannot be a pistol, because it is a shotgun. If you make something that looks like a pistol, but fires shotgun rounds, then it is a shotgun.

is there any difference between a sawn off shotgun and a shotgun?
Q. is there performance difference or is it just the length
Asked by andi.wilding - Tue Jun 5 15:03:56 2007 - Hunting - 17 Answers - Comments
A. I will agree that a shorter shotgun has a better spreading effect at the shorter ranges. I blew a basketball sized hole through plywood with a 2 barrel sawed off-shotgun.

I want to be sawn in half?
Q. Ever since I was a little boy I've loved the Sawing a Lady in Half trick, its my favorite. I always think when I'm watching the trick on telly that it should be a lady in the box being sawn in half (even if its a female magician). But now in recent years I've had the interest of being sawn in half myself. What's your view?

Is TJ Sawn Wine and Boones Farm wine still being sold?
Q. I used to drink these cheap wines in the 1970's it seems most people today look down on them but if I remember right TJ Swan was a fairly good tasting wine for a wine with no cork and a screw lid. Okay, I know the laughs will probably start because they do in person, but still I would like to know if it is still made and sold. I have not seen any lately.
Asked by Rebel U - Sat Oct 4 07:50:56 2008 - Beer, Wine & Spirits - 2 Answers - Comments
A. Yes. You can buy Boone's Farm wine Tickle Pink and Strawberry HIll at convenience stores and grocery stores. TJ Swan wine can be purchased at the local grocer also. I haven't heard of those in a long time, other than when I saw Boone's Farm at the local grocer. I had laughed because I didn't think anyone sold those anymore. I used to drink TJ Swan Stepping Out, because i was too young to afford the more expensive stuff. LOL !!!

About staining & finishing circle sawn fir flooring...?
Q. We have laid some circle sawn fir flooring and are sanding today. After staining, to get the best results how long should we wait to put the finish on? How long after applying the finish do we need to wait before walking on it? We are planning to use either a satin or a semi-gloss finish.
Asked by Christi - Wed May 27 12:00:49 2009 - Decorating & Remodeling - 1 Answers - Comments
A. at least 48 hrs. for the stain to penetrate. then test a spot with finish to see if the stain is dry. finish takes about 7 days to fully cure.
